Welcome!
My name is Rev. Wesley Dorr. I am an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church serving full time as the youth pastor of Downers Grove First United Methodist Church.
This website has been developed for me to be able to share resources with our youth and parents.
Ephesians 4:32
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Social Justice Workshops
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a vision for a new way to live together as siblings in Christ. He called it the beloved community. The beloved community happens when everyone is seen and treated as a beloved child of God. To explore how we can create beloved community today, we are hosting three workshops for youth in grades 6-12. Together with youth from Community UMC, we will learn the difference between positive peace and negative peace by studying Dr. King's Letter from a Birmingham Jail, explore ways to be fully inclusive of LGBTQIA people and honor all races and cultures as people of sacred worth.
February 3: Building a Positive Peace
February 10: Honoring LGBTQIA People in the Beloved Community
February 24: Honoring All Races and Cultures in the Beloved Community
